Honors for the Afghan Project™

On May 21, 2006 Nancy and Sandy were awarded the 2006 Commissioner's Appreciation Award from Harry Spence, Commissioner of the Department of Social Services at a breakfast for over 300 foster and adoptive parents.  The certificate proclaims the following:

In Appreciation
to
Nancy, Founder
and
Sandy, Creative Director
The Afghan Project
The Massachusetts Department of Social Services recognizes your support and dedication to the children in our care.  We honor you for helping to fulfill our mission of Caring for Kids and we thank you for your outstanding commitment.  Your efforts and contributions on behalf of the children and families of Massachusetts are deeply and sincerely appreciated.

Donations

Rose and Tony made a large financial gift to the Afghan Project™. When they moved from Phillips Park to a new location, their fellow residents wanted to celebrate them. In lieu of a gift, they chose to have a contribution made in their name to the Afghan Project™.

Retail Donation

We are delighted that we have received another generous gift in support of the Afghan Project.  We recently received a gift certificate from a local retail company for use in their stores.  With their wonderful support, we were able to purchase a large number of stuffed animals and books which will be included in the personalized bags along with each child's afghan.

The Afghan Project
Wellesley, MA

When I returned from vacation I found my office filled with colorful, cheerful bags containing beautiful afghans in sizes suited perfectly to the age of the child.

It is especially terrific that your group has thought of our teenagers. They can be extremely “charming and challenging”, but so often have no one in their lives who cares about them.

Having the community support our children also helps the social workers who really do have impossible jobs. We really can’t thank you enough.

Horizons of Hope

(Certificate from the Massachusetts Department of Social Services)

Our thanks to the Afghan Project for being a "Horizon of Hope". We recognize your outstanding support and commitment to the children and families of the Commonwealth. Thank you for joining our efforts in the spirit of partnership.

Multiple certificates were awarded to the Afghan Project from 1998 through 2006.
