Sharon Adult Center Knitters
This small group of about 7-10 women meet two times a month at the Adult Community Center in Sharon and knit and crochet afghans for the Afghan Project™. They have been contributing afghans for approximately three years, and this past year we contributed sixty-three afghans to the project.
Two Years in the Making
Rachel (top photo) and her younger sister Amanda (bottom photo) created these colorful afghans, starting to knit their afghans before Rachel's Bat Mitzvah. With the help of their mother, who sewed the squares together, it took them over a year to complete their projects. Through their amazing persistence, two lucky children received the "work of their hands."
National Adoption DayI picked up the afghans from Carla last night and had to peek...they are beautiful and I love the little animals, as well. I know the children will be thrilled. You will be getting a formal thank you after National Adoption Day that you can share with your group but I couldn't wait until then to say thank you. |
Individualized Name on Afghan ValuedNancy, Just received the afghans. As usual they are beautiful. Actually a fifteen year old, K (cognitively aged seven) was here in the office today with her worker, for a visit with her father. I was able to give her the afghan personally. Just wanted to let you know that she was very excited. Could not believe that her name was actually on the afghan. Cuddled right up with it. Thank you Nancy and please thank the members of the " afghan group". |
Joy and ComfortYou will never know the Joy and Comfort that beautiful hand-made blanket is giving Anya (name Changed) every day and nite. She loves it so much, and her cute Teddy bear. She has become very attached to it. She never was attached to anything before. I'm so happy and thankful for those wonderful gifts...Thank you with all my heart. |
